Esther is incredible. Completely changed and fixed my balayage she is the best I love my hair now! Also did the Brazilian keratin treatment and I highly recommend it for frizz control!!! Thank you!!!!

I’ve been going to Esther the owner for almost 10 years for haircuts, toners and balayage. So happy she has a salon to call her own! Essence Salon is at a convenient location in Kaka’ako. As someone who has anxiety with parking and needs to do research before I go somewhere new, Esther was extremely helpful and detailed on her website on where to park and her exact location. This helped a ton when I first went to see her at her new spot. The salon itself is always clean and welcoming, especially with Eerie the salon dog to greet you when your first walk through the door. Congrats Esther and the Essence Salon ohana on your one year anniversary!

Esther and Sky are amazing! Free wifi AND pet friendly! Esther and Sky have been doing my hair for the past few years and always feel so welcome and comfortable. Great staff and environment. My hair appts never go disappointed! 100% recommend!

After searching around for hair salons in the Kakaako area I'm glad I chose Essence Salon. I was looking for a complete transformation with going lighter for my hair and Sky did such an amazing job. I love all the compliments ive been getting on my hair too! Highly recommend!

I've been going to Esther for the past five years for hair cut and color. She does an amazing job with long layers and color, and her prices are reasonable too. The salon is family friendly which is huge for me as a working mom, and sometimes Esther has her dog in the salon too which is fun for everyone there. Esther is super friendly, bubbly, and a perfectionist. I can trust that my hair will turn out great every time. I've even started brining my teenage daughter for hair cuts with Esther. 100% recommend!

I had an incredible experience at the salon with my hair stylist Sky. She did above and beyond with giving me the haircut I wanted and I absolutely love the result!!! The salon is beautiful and comfy. All the staff were incredibly charming and friendly, I couldn’t recommend the place more! The price of this salon is much more reasonable compared to others I’ve seen in the area, but they don’t sacrifice any of the detail and effort being put in. I definitely plan to be a regular here!

Our conversations make it feel like I'm hanging out with a friend rather than just getting my hair done. Her attention to detail, like blowing hairs off my feet after a cut and towel drying my ears after a wash, ensures my comfort throughout. The transformation captured in her before and after photos always leaves me feeling my prettiest. Plus, she has the cutest dog, Eerie, in the salon, which adds to the charm. The prices reflect the high-quality products used and the precious time Esther dedicates to the fine details. Proud to say Esther Claire takes care of my hair!

Esther is truly a master stylist at Essence Salon! She’s an amazing communicator and educator. I always come in knowing what I want, and she thoughtfully takes into account the breakage I have from surfing and being so active. She colored and cut my hair in a way that will grow out effortlessly despite existing damage, which I really appreciated. She also took the time to educate me on how to better care for my hair moving forward. On top of that, she’s such a great vibe to hang out with for hours. Getting my hair done is usually agonizingly boring for my ADHD, but Esther made the entire experience comfortable, easy, and genuinely enjoyable. Go see her - absolutely fabulous!
